This is an experiment with honey watercolor paints and it made the forest look kind of magical.
You can barely see it in the photo, but it does look shiny if you tip the painting just a bit, as below. The whoosh was an accident when I tried to fix something. That’s when I decided there had to be a flying thing in the painting, and I finally went with a flying dragon.
I wasn’t into fantasy books growing up. A friend recommended The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien from the list of books in literature class in high school, so I read it. My husband helped me appreciate that genre more when he read The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis to our children and I heard the stories that way. He also enjoys The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. If you haven’t read these two series by these two great authors, I recommend them to you!
