This is the book my great grandmother, Emma, used when she took organ lessons in 1905, the year before she got married. It is sitting on her organ and it is amazing to me that they have stayed together all these years.
After she married my great grandfather, Charles, and they had two of their eleven children, he wanted to go out to the Sandhills of Nebraska and homestead under the Kincaid Act of 1904. The family story is that Emma told Charles she would go, but her organ had to go, too. And it did, in a covered wagon with them in 1909. They stayed in the Sandhills the rest of their lives.
