The Lord is my Banner

The Lord My Victory Flag or The Lord Is My Banner. On the way to the Promised Land, the Israelites fought the Amalekites while Moses and at least two others watched from a hill. When Moses held up his staff, the Israelites would be winning the battle. When his arms got tired and the staff came down, the Amalekites would be winning the battle. Moses then sat on a rock and his friends held up his arms with the staff so the Israelites would be victorious.  Exodus 17:8-16

According to some scholars, the Amalekites represent sin in our lives. In this life, we will always be battling this enemy. The staff represents God’s name, and reminds us that, in His name, we can conquer sin and rejoice. It is a lifelong battle, but God is always there to help.
