Light of the World

Wanting to try to paint light, I thought of a candle. Then I remembered the ‘Light of the World’ candle I made, and then wondered if I could make a Trinity still life.

I found the middle candle and, after asking our kids if I could borrow a wooden candle stand, I received one for Mother’s Day! My husband made the Light of the World candle stand from a branch so it would be more earthy, since Jesus was born and lived on the earth. The third is an old timey candle holder. I think of people using these to find their way to bed in the movies. The flowers just kind of finish it off. It took some time getting just the right still life together. The only light in the photo I used is candle light. It lit up the arrangement very nicely, as well as the blanket on the couch in the background.

The darkness is pretty dark, but just these few candles lit the room so we could see to move around. We need to let God be our light to navigate the world. Here’s a Scripture reminder - John 8:12 Jesus said “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
